The Core Mechanic of Red Suit
This game uses RED SUIT, which is a diceless, mostly numberless system. To arbitrate outcomes, it uses a normal deck of playing cards.
- Cards drawn from the Base Deck determine failure or success based on the suits drawn; Red suits are good and connote success, while Black Suits are bad and connote failure.
A Draw is used to arbitrate whether or not a character is able to do something with a questionable outcome. This involves a player drawing a card from their Deck.
- When prompted by the Judge, a player will draw a card from their Deck.
- If it is a Red Suit: Success!
- If it is a Black Suit: Failure!
- At the end of a draw, put all drawn cards into the Discard Pile. When the Deck is exhausted, immediately shuffle all cards in the Discard Pile into a new Deck.
Failure is just the beginning of your troubles.
No failure in the game is allowed to return the characters to the same situation. Failure is final, and while it can equate to some kind of Pyrrhic success, it will always result in the situation being changed. For more rules on running failure go here.
