Rest and Recovery
To recuperate from injuries and stress, sometimes characters need some time off. At any quiet point in an adventure, the players can stop and take different kinds of breaks to heal, fix gear or just relax.
Take a Break
- Resting, eating, taking it easy, conversing with other characters, or a quick nap. This is a short rest and takes around an hour or less.
- If you describe how you're spending your break, you may heal 1 Hit.
Take the Night Off
- This is a longer rest, usually over the course of a night. Taking watch, working overnight, or being productive in any way, precludes this.
- Heal 1 Hit
- If you describe your night to the Judge:
- Draw 1 card and put it in your Hand if it's not at maximum hand size.
Take the Day Off
- Rest all day and all night. Start fresh the next day.
- Heal 2 Hits.
- You may reshuffle your Discard Pile into your Deck
- If you describe your day and interactions, pick one of the following:
- Draw 2 cards and put them in your hand up to your maximum hand size.
- Heal one Maim.
Medicine and Maims
- A Character with some sort of medical background (like Doctor as a profession), on a successful Draw, may allow a character to heal an extra Hit.
- Healing Maims does not happen automatically at all during a session. Aside from Sorcery and Taking the Day Off, there is no way to heal a maim.
- Maims are automatically healed at the end of every session.
